Dear Loyal Customers, Dedicated Students, and Friends~ November 5, 2008 We need you! For those of you who are a part of our music community at Matt’s Music, those who understand the need for music at all levels of life, and those who have benefited from our services, we are calling upon your support. Since we opened 6 years ago, we have been committed to providing the community with outstanding live music, quality instruments and accessories at internet prices, top quality music education, clinics and workshops, charity donations of instruments and services, free instrument inspections and lots of valuable information. Most of you understand that we are not just a store, but rather a music community. Now, more than ever we need your help. A bit of history will be helpful in understanding our current situation and needs. In early 2003, shortly after opening Divine Appointment Guitars, we made the decision to organize, operate and fund the Pine Mountain Festival as a benefit for the Atascadero Land Preservation Society. While successful in many ways this was a financial bust. We supported the festival through 2006 before realizing that by continuing, we would end up bankrupt and out of business. By the time we made that decision, we had severely damaged our credit and completely expended our cash reserves. With great customers, shear determination, and faith that we would survive, we have persevered. Current economic conditions have thrown us a fast ball that we can’t handle without you. Selling products at internet prices creates the ultimate challenge because we can’t generate the volume of the internet and actually make a profit after expenses. Most of our customers understand the value and service that we provide to them and to the community. In fact many have offered to pay more because they know the value of what they are receiving and want to insure that we are able to stay in business. We have always politely declined, until now. We have come up with the solution which involves you! We are launching the Matt’s Music Club which will provide the backbone of our organization. Think of it as our version of a Costco membership, season tickets, and a wine club all rolled into one! (see back for details) We ask that you take a stake in being a part of our new music club at one of 3 levels. There is a level for everyone! You might even put it on your holiday wish list! Matt’s Music Club will provide a way that our customers and supporters can help us in a direct financial way, and we can continue to provide all the services and benefits that we do. a community to bring the joy of music to everyone! In many ways, “business as
usual” is what you will see and feel when you come in the store but as a Club
member you’ll know that you have a direct stake in making it happen! Please
