Vocal Lessons With Michael Bierbaum

We now have an awesome vocal teacher at Divine Appointment Guitars!  Michael Bierbaum comes well credentialed and is available for private and group lessons.  Call us at 237-0054 to schedule a private lesson or tell us if you would like to be put on a list to start a vocal class.

About Michael Bierbaum:

Michael Bierbaum is a tenor and has a BA in Choral/Vocal Music from California State University at LA.  He has studied voice with the greats such as Mona Paulee, Pollyanne Baxter, Jill Anderson, and Jacalyn Bower Kreitzer.

Michael has taught music and theater arts in elementary and secondary schools in Burbank, Bell Gardens, Montbello, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, and Shandon.  He continues to teach privately and in groups at Divine Appointment Guitars.

Michael received his Master’s Degree from “the school of real world reality,”  performing with the Senia Singers of LA, The Pasadena Chorale, The William Hall Chorale, Cuesta College North County Chorus, San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, San Luis Vocal Arts Ensemble, Cuesta Master Chorale, Pacific Repertory Opera, Monterey Opera, LA Opera, and the San Francisco Opera.  He spent five years at The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville, two seasons with PCPA Theaterfest and performed with the Cal Poly Theater, Cuesta College Theater, the Parish Players, Pacific Light Opera Theater, San Luis Little Theater and the Central Coast Children’s Theater.  He is the founder and director of Merriwether’s Madrigals and the Pozo Bel Canto Quartet; director of Central Coast Children’s Theater’s Arts Alive Summer Workshop Program, Artist-in-Residence with the Children’s Creative Project, and presenter at Dramatic Connections.

Michael has even sung the National Anthem at the Dodger Stadium on two occasions for the LA dodgers.  He can often be found musically roaming pirate and renaissance festivals as Frier Merrimether and when asked, can jump into this character (or any other character!) on que!

But beyond all the fancy credentials, Michael is fun!  Although he is very serious about his music, we have found him to be a joyful and positive influence at Divine Appointment Guitars, encouraging our students to express themselves to the fullest!

We are commonly asked about vocal lessons for children.  Michael Bierbaum recommends instead, getting your child active in a chorus or choir.  Also, in order to learn music reading fundamentals, enroll your child in instrumental lessons such as piano or guitar.  When your child reaches about 14 years for girls, and 15 years for boys (after their voice has changed,) that’s the time to enroll them in private vocal lessons!
