Emily
Yurcheshen (pronounced: "Your-cha-son") is a progressive educator,
piano/guitar
player, and singer/songwriter. She combines her educational background
with her passion for music to create, perform, and inspire people of all ages to
express the music within. She received her Masters of Arts in Teaching
from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 1998. After teaching
three years in Oregon, she traveled to Portugal where she taught in an American
International School. Her world travel inspired her to begin composing
and honing in on her technical music skills. Emily leads an after-school
enrichment program in Morro Bay, facilitates workshops, does consulting, and
plays music in the community. Her most recent CD project entitled
"Restless" includes songs of inspiration, empowerment and gratitude.
We are thrilled to have Emily on board here at the Academy where she teaches
piano, guitar, song writing, and creativity classes.
