THE ANNOUNCEMENT BOARD
JOHN JORGENSON QUINTET! Kicks off our Summer Series
at Stacked Stone Cellars
Benefit Concert for Escuela del Rio
Saturday, June 7th at Castoro Cellars
$25 Tickets
available at here at Matt's Music, Stage & School
Besides
our own monthly concerts, Matt’s Music Stage and School is a major sponsor
of a yearly benefit held for Escuela del Rio, a non profit organization here
in the north county that helps developmentally disabled adults achieve
independence in all aspects of their life. This year’s concert will be held
June 7, 2008 at Castoro Cellars Winery, 1315 N. Bethel Road in Templeton and
will feature the music of Kathrin Shorr and Brian Joseph. A winner of the
Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase and ASCAP’s prestigious
Sammy Cahn Lyricist Award, Kathrin has emerged on the music scene with a
vibrant energy that cannot be described, but begs witnessing. Kathrin has
appeared on CNN’s “House Concerts and Artists in Demand,” and played
the main stage at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, televised live in Scotland.
Her music was also featured on CBS’s “Joan of Arcadia,” ABC Family’s
“Beautiful People,” and in the Academy Award-nominated film “The
Hours.” Co-billing the event is the extraordinary Brian Joseph. Brian
is no stranger to us here, as he has performed many times within our walls
to standing room only audiences every time. Also a past winner of the Rocky
Mountain Folks Festival and the Telluride Troubadour Competition, Brian is
the thinking man’s folk artist. Humor, pain, comfort, and friendship weave
and tangle their threads through every note, offering insight into his
sensitivity and wit. Please help Matt’s Music Stage and School in
supporting this worthwhile cause! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here
at the store, over the phone at Castoro Cellars, 238-0725 or on their
website, www.castorocellars.com.

"One more note about tuning as it relates to playing with other people:
Tuning is an absolute requirement for functioning as a collective. It
is the common ground where players of any culture can meet. Think of
tuning as it relates to all human interaction, on both an individual and
societal level. How many bands have broken up for reasons that have
nothing to do with music, because they cannot get along together? How
many marriages, teams, legislatures, boards, and committees fail to function
because the participants can't find a working harmony? When people are
not in tune with each other, they add to the disharmony of the world."
